I chose to hunt with Zane Cameron because I wanted to hunt Sambar deer under free-range, fair-chase terms. Zane offered to introduce me to stalking from a fly camp base, which is something I had been planning to do for several years, but hadn't been confident to do on my own. Understanding what I wished to achieve, Zane tailored a hunt to deliver the experience I was after. The hunt was guided in a safe, professional manner, and Zanes' thoughtful hospitality and good humour made the challenges of fly camping and stalking in the colder June month as comfortable as possible. Zane is extremely knowledgeable in his understanding of Sambar deer, and he was able to guide me onto my first Sambar stag on the third day of the hunt. I can thoroughly recommend Zane Cameron as the quality outfitter for anyone wishing to experience the challenge and thrill of a fair-chase Sambar hunt in the beautiful High Country. I had a great hunt with a great bloke; thanks again Zane!

"I can highly recommend Cameron Sambar Deer Hunting. Backpack hunting has been something I have wanted to do for a long time but never had the right person to show me how to go about it safely, until I met Zane, it is definitely his specialty and he is an absolute wealth of knowledge on all aspects of hunting and surviving in the bush as well as a real genuine bloke.
The fly camping hunt that was put together was very well planned and Zane managed to put me onto a nice sambar stag on the second day.
After a good stalk in I was lucky enough to get a shot at close range and claim my first stag, a truly awesome experience. It was an absolute pleasure getting to know Zane and the amount of knowledge I took away from our time together was invaluable, looking forward to the next one".

Just wanted to say a massive thank you for taking me out this week and showing me your side of the mountain.

When it comes to deer, i'm truly a novice hunter but your patient approach put me at ease and i got closer to deer than i've ever been.

This trip was unbelievably educational for me, I have to say. And most importantly, a confidence booster for me as I now feel I could tackle hunting deer on my own; something I couldn't say a year ago.

I reckon you have great skill as a bush or hunting guide and would be happy to recommend you as a guide to anyone.

I've been wanting to get into hunting for food for a while now and finally just got my long arms license. Zane took me out and gave me the best introduction to ethical deer hunting/firearms I could have hoped for. Proper outdoors experience, no fancy gadgets or luxuries. Camped under the stars, shot some deer and cooked it over the fire and even did some impromptue trout fishing.

Couldn't recommend more to anyone who wants to learn how to safely hunt and respect the land from someone who's easy going and passionate about self sufficient living.

Cameron Sambar Hunting is truly a once in a life time hunting experience. We chose to do fly camping which put us right in amongst the deer and wildlife. To say the least it was really an awesome experience!

Zane has a phenomenal knowledge of the bush and sambar hunting in particular, he has an extremely friendly ,safe and helpful persona to his clients with a vast knowledge of how sambar go about their daily activities which resulted in a successful hunt for us, he put us right onto animals and it was up to us to do the rest which was awesome to rely on your skill as well as zane's professionalism.

All around i would give Zane a solid 10/10 for what he offers and i'm hoping to be lucky enough to keep hunting with him in the future, he is an absolute ambassador for any kind of hunting and his knowledge is impeccable, absolutely stoked with our trip, some hard yards but worth every cent!

Thanks Zane , hopefully see you next year for another.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH ZANE CAMERON'S ALPINE HUNT.

The area Zane chose for me to hunt was truly world class.

A 3km walk in and we made camp.

From their we trekked to mountain tops over looking majestic valleys.

Zane has a sick sense where the deer will be.

With in hours he had located a quality stag and left the rest up to me.

That night for dinner we had sliced venison back straps over charcoal as well as a quality meal cooked up by Zane.

A decision was made that over the next 3 days we would be after a younger animal for the freezer. In that time over 16 sambar were viewed but we needed to locate one close as possible to camp. Zane soon put me in position to make that happen.

The last day was spent butchering and safely trekking out all the gear and meat. What a truely rewarding trip.I can not recommend Zane's sambar hunting enough.A solid 100%. A trip i'll be talking about for years to come.

Cheers mate LEGEND.

After hunting with some great hunters in New Zealand before I relocated back to Germany I tried to find similar experiences in Kyrgyzstan and Romania but unfortunately the commercial side was dominating the hunting over there. When I spoke to some hunting trip organisers in Europe they told me that it is very hard to find keen hunters these days that do everything for a great hunting experience.

When I contacted Zane I hoped that he was a real genuine hunter.

My expectations were fully met.

Zane really loves to be out in the bush and has a very honourable understanding of how to hunt. We were fly camping out in the bush at -4 °C for five days and saw a lot of animals. Even after I shot the second sambar stag he was very keen to hunt on. Zane is a very genuine guy and has a great knowledge of deer hunting. In these five days we really bonded with nature and had a fantastic hunting experience. Thank you very much Zane for putting all that effort in to make it such a unforgettable hunting trip.

Cheers  Johann.

I am an experienced sambar hunter and I decided to do a fly camp hunt with Zane because I wanted to learn more about fly camp hunting. This involves lightweight specialised gear, high level of fitness and different hunting methods. Zane has heaps of fly camp hunting experience in Australia, New Zealand . I found Zane very friendly and easy to get along with and certainly a top level PH.

Anyway I will let the facts speak for themselves. On a 4 day fly hunt we camped in 2 different fly camps locations. We saw about 30 sambar, which included about 6 or 7 stags. I passed up a stag at 25 yards. I passed up another stag at 160 yards ( which was with a hind and spiker ) and I took a nice heavy antlered stag at 70 yards. You cannot ask for much more than this ! Zane even carried in steaks for dinner. Awesome hunt. Thanks.
